The plane decorated with two larger carved diamond shaped forms with a star- and diamond shape within, both with indentations on the outer rim. The shield painted with natural pigments in black, white and red. Collection of Fred Carasso (1899-1969) an Italian born famous Dutch sculptor and collector of fine Arts, thence by descent. Ex-collection Carel van Lier. The early label number 32 suggests according to grandson Bas van Lier, that this shield was acquired somewhere in the 1920’s.
