Pompeii, a Roman marble fragment of a male figural group, 1st century BC-79 AD.

The male torso with two fine articulated hands resting on the back, two stump arms and a deep belly button. The fragment was bought by mister Emmo von Bennings, the grandfather of the current owner, in the auction of the collection of Joachim Ferroni, sold in 1909 at the Galerie Sangiorgi, Rome. Grandfather bought several Roman art objects in that auction, this bust was part of those purchases (information directly from the family).
