China, a copper-red-decorated powder-blue 'monk' saucer, Qing dynasty (1644-1912),

painted after the Kangxi example with a figure of a fighting monk, reserved on a mottled powder-blue ground, the reverse with apocryphal Ming mark

diam. 15 cm

Compare a similar larger plate in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, inv. nr. AK-RBK 15847, where the figure is identified as a character from the tale 'Shuihu zhuan' which tells about various dubious figures, including the fighting monks. The current figure may be identified as the monk Hua, who is a master of stickfighting.
