in crouching position, bent arms and legs, the crescent eyes whitened, rectangular mouth below prominent nostrils. Included in this lot is a woodcut depicting this figure, made by C.T. Bertling himself.

Provenance: C. T. Bertling (1891-1970), Bloemendaal, acquired in the late 1920s in the Moluccas. The figure can be seen standing on the table in this picture where C.T. Bertling is seated in his home in Menado, Sulawesi, holding the one of the two Lake Sentani staffs, lot number 5638, in his hand, ca. 1927.
