P.N. Guinea, Sepik, a rare bowl in the shape of a turtois,

with fine carved atriculated head and tail and remnants of pigments.

Provenance: Collected in situ by Dr. Otto Schlaginhaufen, in region 'Olem - Pagem and Kambrini' villages on the morning of August 4th 1909, inv. Nr. 24940. Collection Museum for Volkerkunde, Dresden. Deacquisitioned in July 1912 and given by exchange to the Wiener Museum, probably the Naturhistorisches Hofmuseum Wien.
