A rare Roman hexagonal aubergine collored glass jug, Eastern Mediterranean, ca. 5th-6th century CE,
A rare Roman aubergine collored glass featuring a hexagonical body divided into six distinct rectangular panels. The body transitions into a gently sloping shoulder, a tall cylindrical neck, and a flared trefoil mouth with a slightly folding rim. The handle is applied to the edge of the shoulder, where it sharply folds into the rim, and functions as a stylized thumb-rest. Each of the six body panels are decorated with symbolic imagery. On the front and the rear panel, a menorah is depicted. The other panels depict The Ark of the Covenant, and an eye symbol in a Lozenge shape.
