Roman glass jug, 2nd-4th century CE
A fine Roman translucent light-green glass jug. The vessel features an ovoid body, tapering downward to a flat, stable base. The broad, slightly sloping shoulder runs sharply into a tall cylindrical neck. The neck flares outward into an elegant funnel-shaped mouth, while the rim is turned-out, designed for clean pouring. A single, thick glass handle is applied directly to the shoulder, drawn gracefully upward and outward in a wide curve, and attached to the underside of the rim.
Provenance: Private Dutch collection, collected between 1970-1974 by a collector working for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stationed in North Africa.
